I believed Max's arguments. She has a good record, even though I understand that the police, et.al. don't like to follow her methodology. Prosecutors are a strange breed. They want a sure win, and last minute changes can lead to reasonable doubt. I get where he's coming from but there are families who need justice. Max's arguments were solid enough to investigate even if he continues with the current charges. He can bring additional charges later when he prosecutes the partner, if they find one.
They were definitely persuasive for me but I agree with you, Sharon. It’s a sticky path with the prosecutor in the middle of a trial. There was room for compromise here but I understand their unease. It wasn’t that they didn’t believe her. They just wanted to get the slam dunk conviction of a murderer.
I can see why the DA wasn't going to jeopardize his case at the last minute. The Palazzolos were missing for a year. There is no reason to jump right into another investigation concerning a partner while the trial was nearly over. If the press had heard that the cops were looking for a second partner, it would have been splashed over the headlines while the trial was still going on.
She based a lot of her conclusions on what Adam didn't say and a lot of conjecture and speculation. I agreed he had a partner, however, I also understand why the prosecutor wouldn't what to jeopardize what they think is a slam dunk guilty verdict by presenting this theory to the jury.
I felt that her argument was very persuasive. He made comments that were directed toward her about something she was working on. I do think they were string enough for the D.A., but it's a tough call to make since they were so close to convicting Adam.
