I remember a girl goes to a boarding school in the country for kids with powers. Their powers are defined by a tattoo they get somewhere on their body. Usually they get their powers quite early but she doesn't have hers yet. I can't remember if her parents are dead or just her mother. Her father is a well known villain who used his powers for evil. They are cautious her powers might be similar. She meets lots of people including a guy who can move fast, a girl who can read minds and a guy who can turn into an Eagle. She ends up getting her tattoo early because they recorded her birthday wrong so she doesn't tell anyone. Her tattoo is a sparkly fairy. Her powers end up being a mix of her parent and she can use anyone's powers she comes into contact with. Her teacher is bad and kidnaps her so she uses all her friends powers to get away.
