Rhainay W | 23 comments Practical Magic is a movie about two sisters born into a family of witches that struggle through life dealing with their family curse. Practical Magic was made in 1998 and directed by Griffin Dunne. In the movie, sisters Gillian (Nicole Kidman) and Sally Owens (Sandra Bullock) grow up with their Aunts on Whidbey Island, and they go through life sticking out but still desperate to blend in. Additionally, Sally and Gillian live separate lives and have different personalities but always keep each other in the other's heart and mind. In the film, they have to work together to protect their family and stay safe. In my opinion, Sandra and Nicole work well together and have a pleasant sisterly bond out through the movie. Also, in the film, they display a strong family bond with their Aunts Frances (Stockard Channing) and Jet (Dianne West).

Moreover, you can tell it is an older movie (but not that old) by some of the graphics and the effects in the cinema. Furthermore, the home they live in is gigantic, and the landscape is well kept. The cinema is more of a romantic movie as it does not have action at every corner. However, there is still some action to be seen. Additionally, Practical Magic does not have as much witchcraft as other movies with witchcraft like Hocus Pocus, but it still has a decent amount. Also, the film does have some scenes that are more intense and dramatic than others. I feel like Practical Magic is a cute movie to watch, but it is not for everyone as some people do not enjoy things that involve witchcraft. In the end, since the film was compelling, I would give this movie a 3.8 out of 5, and I would recommend it to people who enjoy witchcraft or like watching any of the actresses featured in the film.
