Not at all! October just started and I have 200pp left on my book. Also, life, you know.

Hmmmmmm I am really torn between Book 1 and Book 3 for what I feel like at the moment.

But... gothic and secrets sounds like a good theme for October (although we don't have the scary weather change here) and who can say no to a creepy housekeeper...

Book 1 please!

Just finished my book, so perfect timing. Will go dig it out!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Sandra wrote: "Rebecca is perfect for October."

I have to laugh at this. I always try to join in the spooky idea of October.

But.
Daylight savings started today an as I started reading this the day was longer and golden and it was glorious! So much sunshine and light. We're turning off the fire, and opening all the doors. Everything is growing and exploding, and just lusciously green.

*cough* but spooky and scary and ominous. Focus Rus! The description of Manderlay being taken over by plants, I was all "GO YOU GOOD THING, PLANTS!!"

Lol exactly :D I would love to be in the US/Canada for Halloween once though.

message 176: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11261 comments My parents love to visit in Halloween now. Even it is getting more and more habitual to trick-or-treat in Uruguay (it didn't exist when I was a child) it is completely different. I was there in 2016 and it was weird to see the kids going around the neighborhood in plain light. All the parent out, talking to the neighbors while taking a look at the kids. Lots of movement. It is when de weather starts to get warmer so we are looking for excuses to go outside . The feeling was similar to Mardi gras (which is a huge celebration in Uruguay), and nothing to do with our northeast Halloween (the only one I have experienced). It was still nice, though. A different kind of event. That is how globalization works after all.

message 177: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments That is curious, Sandra. It's definitely more of a thing here now than when I was a kid. But still usually groups of families getting together and doing activities, including trick or treating.

I love Latin American Mardi Gras!
