Wayne Kramer | 2 comments I believe this book was the first in a series. The copy I had was a small paperback. The cover and first few pages were missing. It was not a very long novel.

Bill All the Colors of Darkness ?

It's about a corporation that invents and runs a network of teleportation doorways, and then a customer goes missing.

Justanotherbiblophile | 1814 comments I really like Bill's suggestion. Implied there is no murder in that suggestion, however.

Niven has some teleportation murders (iirc), but most of his teleportation booths (and stepping discs) are in the form of short stories, or very backgrounded in Known Space stuff (Ringworld / Fleet of Worlds).

Some of the short stories are in slim volumes. But I think you'd realize they're independent of each other. Only the Gil the Arm, and Beowulf Shaeffer even keep the same protagonist.

_The Patchwork Girl_ (Gil the Arm) has a locked-room mystery of an attempted murder on the moon.

Wayne Kramer | 2 comments Good morning. I want to thank all of you that responded. I reviewed the suggestions and Bill, you are right. It is All the Colors of Darkness by Lloyd Biggle Jr.

I am most appreciative!

Wayne
