Stacey uncovers another former Unity Farm member, Eric Leland, whose parents had him committed following a failed intervention. Was he mentally disturbed before his indoctrination by Jake or were his issues more a direct result of his involvement with Unity Farm?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I believe he had mental issues, and Jake knew it too. He picks up on the best way to tap the negative in people and then use it for his plans. The group added to Eric's issues for sure.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) I'd say he would have had mental health issues previously. And as Sharon said Jake Black honed in on people's insecurities and issues to use them for his advantage. In Eric's case it tipped him over the already shaky edge.

I agree, too. Jake just lit a fire under all that crazy and kept it burning. I fear he’s a lost cause.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I agree. His existing mental issues were just exacerbated by his involvement with the cult.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments I agree. He had violent and psychopathic tendencies before he became involved with the cult. They just provided the justification and incentive for him to feel comfortable to act out on his urges.

@Jonetta - absolutely, he is lost.
