Hi Guys, first time posting here so i apologize if i do anything wrong. :)
The story was basically the same as The Island Of Dr. Moreau. There was an island of animals who'd been surgically modified into humans by a genius/crazy professor, the main character was a dog turned man. The whole story is told from his perspective, he refers to his creator as his master and is the head servant. I think his name was something like Dog-boy.
I don't remember a lot of details, but at one point in the story another human (i think he was a reporter) is invited to the island by the professor to show his work. This other man is horrified and threatens to expose whats happening, the professor responds by taking him prisoner. The prisoner tries to convince Dog-boy to set him free, and tells him about the world outside the island.
Dog-boy becomes confused, since he is loyal to his master but is fascinated by the stories of the outside world. He also has a hidden collection of newspaper clippings with pictures and things, i think the city the reporter came from and the one Dog-boy is obsessed with is London. Eventually the prisoner disappears, i don't remember if he's killed or escapes.
Eventually something happens to the professor, i'm not sure if he dies or just leaves the island but i think he leaves. Dog-boy is the only one who thinks he'll come back to them, the other animal people are reverting back to their animistic ways. This deeply upsets Dog-boy who insists they still follow the master's rules, or they'll be punished when he returns.
The book was hardcover but not very thick, i think it was written from 2010 onwards but it could have been earlier.
Thanks for reading, i'd really appreciate any help. :)
