Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I found an animal skeleton book that works. Emily softened the criteria a bit.

message 102: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments Good evening all. I placed Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs in the dragon slot for an animal print since she has an animal paw print tattoo. If this is not an acceptable interpretation of the idea behind the prompt it can be moved to paranormal or long hair. I am also about to finish Tell No One by Harlan Coben which can be used for the "T" in Norbert or an orange cover. Will look to see what is needed on the spreadsheet for the next book. Happy Reading!

message 103: by Kate (new)

Kate (caitmoore) | 238 comments Hi everyone! We're doing really well on path to get at least one of every monster, exciting!

message 104: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I finished two books (putting the links tomorrow, I'm on my phone on my way to sleep). I put them for light source and Egypt.

We're doing really well :)

Tomorrow I will take a closer look at the spreadsheet and we can maybe strategise a bit.

message 105: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments @Kellie Lyn, it is acceptable. That's well spotted!

message 106: by Kate (new)

Kate (caitmoore) | 238 comments Having a bit of a look at the spreadsheet myself, I say our main focuses would be a book with a black and white cover (2 options - both mine), a book with animal print on the cover (3 options), a book featuring a fiery character (0 options), and a book with a yellow cover (2 options).

I'll have the black and white cover covered (heh) by Sunday easily, and maybe have an option for a fiery character? As I am reading Obama's memoir and it has plenty of references to fiery people throughout.

message 107: by Elli (new)

Elli | 0 comments @ Caitlin, I've placed Sweep in Peace for a fiery character.

Finished it last night as I couldn't put the book down. Ilona Andrews' books are just too addictive.

And so, the first thing I did when I woke up this morning is to start on the next book. I don't think I can rest until I finish the entire series.

message 108: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments We're actually only needing a book with a yellow cover, then we have at least one of each monster!

River of Shadows, that I'm reading works for the beginnings of a new dragon or ogre, and the audiobook I'm listening to, Mærkelige Mynthe, works for a new banshee or wraith. I'll finish both those within the readathon.

Happy reading day everyone!

message 109: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments @Elli, I've actually never read Ilona Andrews, but you're not the first to recommend them :) I think I'll like them.

message 110: by Kat (new)

Kat | 566 comments I have to finish The Hunting Party today before my loan expires so we will have a yellow cover by the end of the day.

message 111: by Aimee (last edited Sep 17, 2021 04:21AM) (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I had a tough day at work yesterday and couldn't face my tough politic book so I raced through The Baby is Mine instead which was a lot more fun. It didn't really fit anywhere except 'short book' so I've added it there towards another wraith.

I also finished Symona's Still Single yesterday and put it down for 'orange cover'.

message 112: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Great Kat!
Aimee, I know the feeling! Sometimes you just need light and entertaining.

message 113: by Elli (new)

Elli | 0 comments Alright, I've finished One Fell Sweep & put it up for fiery character.

I'll go ahead & try to finish The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History before the end of the readathon so we can try to secure at least 3 dragons.

message 114: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments I finished Tell No One...unfortunately it does not fit any where but the "T" in Norbert. I am reading (audiobooks) Half Broke Horses which is a black and white picture cover. I am also reading The Last Coyote which has headlights in the distance on the cover. I should finish both of these tonight. I have two other cozy mysteries that have paw prints on the cover which I can finish tomorrow if we still need the animal print prompt.

message 115: by Kat (new)

Kat | 566 comments I finished the yellow cover so the sphinx is complete. I'm going to move onto something easier and try and get at least 2 books read this weekend.

message 116: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments That is at least one of each monster recruited! Yay!!!

I have work tomorrow (saturday) and my mother-in-laws birthday on sunday, but I'll still get some time to read (though not as much as I would like).

message 117: by Kate (new)

Kate (caitmoore) | 238 comments Good morning from me! I'm still hoping to finish Midnight Library which features the death of a character (banshee), a paranormal book (wraith), a book with a source of light on the cover (dragon) -and- Dearly which could cover a short book (wraith).

I also completed A Promised Land which I put under a giant book, but can move it to a couple other places if needed.

message 118: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I've finished A Man of the People for animal print but forgot to add it to the spreadsheet and I've just turned my computer off. If someone wants to add it for me then please do :)

message 119: by Elli (new)

Elli | 0 comments Hurray to more monsters especially dragons!

message 120: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Hatch those dragons!

message 121: by Elli (last edited Sep 18, 2021 12:06AM) (new)

Elli | 0 comments Yes Khaleesi! We only have Drogon & Rhaegal so far. We need Viserion to increase our odds to survive in Westeros. (>‿◠)

I just checked, someone has done it :)

message 124: by Johanne (last edited Sep 18, 2021 12:45AM) (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I finished Mærkelige Mynthe yesterday.
Would you not agree that daylight from a window is a light source?
Mærkelige Mynthe by Dorte Roholte

If you agree, I'll put it for light source, finish my short animal print book, and we are well on our way to having two more dragons before the end of a readathon (and thus enhancing our chances of surviving in Westeros greatly, as Elli pointed out ;) )

ETA: I'll just ask Emily :)

message 125: by Kat (new)

Kat | 566 comments I'm not sure what to read next and which prompts need to be focused on. Any ideas?

message 126: by Elli (last edited Sep 18, 2021 05:35AM) (new)

Elli | 0 comments @ Kat, I would suppose we could focus more on the prompts for dragons & ogres as they have more points. What do you think?

I'm planning to read The Eyre Affair and it could fit 2 Ogre prompts (A book with a green cover & A book whose title starts with a letter found in OGRE) & 1 Dragon prompt (A book starting with a letter in the word NORBERT). Will put it in where it is needed most when I've finish reading.

Hope this helps somewhat..

On a sidenote, I'm 60% done with The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History which can be used for 2 dragon prompts~ Will finish it by tomorrow~

message 127: by Johanne (last edited Sep 18, 2021 06:20AM) (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I'm about to finish Skelettet på hjul (animal print) and finished Mærkelige Mynthe yesterday (light source - waiting for Emily's acceptance). With those two we have another dragon. I'm also reading The River of Shadows that work for several, among those, fiery character and Norbert for dragon.

I've tried to look over the last days' comments. I got confused to exactly where people are ...

But I agree we should go for more dragons, and it seems not too many are reading books with red or orange covers. So possibly that?

message 128: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments I just finished Heidi for the green cover so we only need a book beginning with O G R or E to get another ogre.

message 129: by Kat (new)

Kat | 566 comments Great, I've started a non-fiction book with a red cover that starts with O so it fits a few of those prompts. I'll see what is needed when I finish it tomorrow.

message 130: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I've had a look at the spreadsheet to see where we can maximise our weekend reading and we have a few half-finished monsters. I thought it might help to have a post here showing what we need:

Wraith
- A paranormal book
- A book with a black and white cover

Ogre
- A book whose title starts with a letter in OGRE

Dragon
- A book with a source of light on the cover
- A book with animal print on the cover

It looks like we have options in progress for all of these but it doesn't hurt to have more than one person working on them just in case!

message 131: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Thanks Aimee. I got the go ahead from Emily, so I'm putting Mærkelige Mynthe for light source, dragon, now.

Happy reading!

message 132: by Fee (new)

Fee | 233 comments I finally finished a book for the read-a-thon. I putRock Paper Scissors to orgre. (Book that start with a letter in OGRE)

message 133: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I just finished Skelettet på hjul (The Skeleton on Wheels, and yes, it's as weird as the title indicates). That means we have dragon number three! I believe we can get a handful of monsters more before the final battle of Westeros!

message 134: by Kate (last edited Sep 18, 2021 03:01PM) (new)

Kate (caitmoore) | 238 comments Last day here for me and I'm on track to complete two more books. The first I can put in a paranormal book and the other could go into featuring death of a character.

Will also stick around of course to shuffle my book places if need be :).

message 135: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments I just finished Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls and put it for black and white cover. I am going to finish The Cider Shop Rules which is set in rural West Virginia soon. It is only Saturday evening here so I hope to get at least a couple more books in but not sure I am up for a book over 500 (that seems a bit daunting).

message 136: by Elli (last edited Sep 18, 2021 07:41PM) (new)

Elli | 0 comments Shall we try for another dragon?
I just finished The Sixth Extinction An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert & I've put in for "animal prints" for now.

message 137: by Kate (new)

Kate (caitmoore) | 238 comments I'll be able to put a book in a light source on the cover for dragon.

message 138: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Good morning! My last day of readathon just started.

I'll be able to finish River of Shadows, it works for Norbert and fiery character (there are several) for the dragon.
If those are taken by the time I'm finished it also works for Ogre and 500+ pages.

Let's prioritise filling up the dragon prompts if possible, and then I'll keep an eye on what we can move around, when we're nearing the end of the last person's sunday, to see if we can round up the loose prompts into an extra monster.

Happy last readathon day everyone!

message 139: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I'm thinking my tomorrow morning (in a bit less than 24 hours) will be when I make the final round up to see if we can squeeze in the extra monster.

message 140: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I'm thinking my tomorrow morning (in a bit less than 24 hours) will be when I make the final round up to see if we can squeeze in the extra monster.

message 141: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments What I'm asking: is everyone's reading sunday finished in 24 hours, and will you be able to log your final reading by then?

message 142: by Kat (new)

Kat | 566 comments I can't believe its the last day, this week has gone so quickly.

I'll finish reading in 12 to 13 hours depending on how late I stay up and will log everything before I start work in 22 hours.

message 143: by Elli (new)

Elli | 0 comments I aim to finish one last book, The Eyre Affair before my day ends today. Will log it in before I go to sleep, which is probably in about 7 hours.
This book works for NORBERT/ORGE or a green cover.

message 144: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Yes this week really has gone by in a blink.

message 145: by Kate (new)

Kate (caitmoore) | 238 comments I've filled in my last two books before bed, but will be back online in <12 hours and happy to discuss any shuffling needed.

message 146: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I've got The Old Man and the Sea on Audible, it's 2h38 long so I could easily finish today and would work for NORBERT / OGRE, but while some print editions have over 100 pages others have 90-odd. Does this count in the rules of the readalong? Obviously since I'll be 'reading' it on audio I can't just use my own edition.

message 147: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I'd say it counts then. Let Emily chime in if it's a problem.

message 148: by Elli (new)

Elli | 0 comments Finished my last book The Eyre Affair for this readathon & placed it down for NORBERT.

Thank you Team Westeros! It's been a really fun readathon.

Good night!

message 149: by Kellie Lyn (new)

Kellie Lyn | 211 comments Finished the The Cider Shop Rules this afternoon. Did not get in as much reading as I thought I could this weekend. I still have about 6 more hours but have to get ready for work tomorrow so not sure I will get very far.

Thanks for making this a great week of reading. I always enjoy these weeks but my goodness they are fast. Well till next time, Happy Reading!

message 150: by Kat (new)

Kat | 566 comments I finished my last book last night and have logged everything.

Thanks everyone. It's been great to meet some new ATYers and get some great reading done. I think my eyes need a couple of days off now!
