Thank goodness this one had me reaching for the box of Kleenex as all secrets were revealled!
Eric is with ATF, his dog Tiger an explosives tracker. Ever since his friends and partners were killed in a bombing in Alabama, it has been Eric's mission in life to get revenge on Harley Gant, the sovereign nation mastermind who likes bombing places and people, and whom Eric is sure was behind his friend's deaths. Eric is now working in NJ, where he pulls over a kid with an Alabama accent and fake plates on his truck, which Tiger immediately identifies as containing explosives. It becomes clear that a major bombing is being planned for soemwhere nearby and that it is likely Gant is the mastermind.
There's just one problem: the kid pulled over is Tess' younger brother whom she was forced to leave behind 10 years earlier when she fled from their stepfather and his abuse. Tess has built a life for herself and is determined to save her brother. Of course, it means working with Eric, to whom she feels a deep attraction but also fears what will happen when he finds out the truth about her and her brother. Then there is the roles they all will play to prevent a bombing worse than the Oklahoma Federal Building.
Once again Quinn delivers an exciting thriller. Romance is front and center, as both Tess and Eric overcome their pasts to trust and love each other. Tiger is one hunky dog and the final scene where Tess gets her own dog is heartwarming. The reasons Tess and her brother keep their pasts secret until almost too late is a bit irritating and in my mind not that necessary to the plot or the suspense. However, the reaction of Eric and his friends to Tess' crystals, yoga, and tofu based meals is pretty hilarious.
