Daisy ends up at a strip club in Denver operated by Smithie who becomes her fiercest protector. Why do you think he bonded so strongly with her? How do you imagine she became a stripper as that’s never explained?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Daisy, the stripper with a heart of gold. Daisy was a good person that life had whacked around but never beaten. Smithie appeared to run a class business, for a strip club anyway. He took care of his people and Daisy didn't have anyone. She started as a waitress and someone probably told her there was good money if she stripped.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I thought that Smithie looked at Daisy as a little sister, who he needed to protect. He knew there was something or someone in her past who hurt her, but she still had a kind and loving personality. It brought out his protective nature.

Most likely Daisy fell into the position. She practiced dancing and taught the other girls. I can see her watching the strippers then spending hours perfecting the moves until she had the confidence to dance herself. I don't know if she asked Smithie to promote her or he saw her dancing and offered her a position.

Laura Smithie is protective with most of his dancers and employees so it was expected he would be close with Daisy too. I wasn’t surprised by it. It’s sort of a cliche she ended up stripping. It’s what most women down on their luck end up doing in the book world anyway.

Smithie treated all of the women working for him like they mattered and were important. His bond with Daisy probably ran a bit deeper because there is something special about her. But, he was the self appointed caretaker for all of them.

I couldn’t figure out if Daisy got the breast augmentation for her own self image or specifically to become a stripper. It would have been helpful to learn how she got there. We are definitely left with a stereotype.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments Yes, it is strange that we don't get the rest of Daisy's journey after leaving home and arriving in Denver. She goes from being on the bus to being a stripper at Smithie's. I would have liked to know what set her on this path because I am sure it wasn't her ambition to be a stripper.

As to her bond with Smithie, he is a father figure to her like Stretch in the beginning. She has some daddy issues.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments There is a lot of information missing. My guess is we learn this, hopefully, when we get into the other books. This isn't a good prequel.

Daisy and Marcus are very minor characters in the rest of the series, so I have my doubts. I think Ashley wrote this because fans were requesting it. It is definitely more of an extended epilogue than a prequel.

Lynn (ftbooklover) You all make good points here.
