Hi everyone! I've been a fan of the Victorians for a long time, but this is the first time I'm actively participating in Victober (and I'm really excited about it). My current TBR is: 'Dracula', 'Far from the madding crowd' and 'Tale of two cities'. I'm not sure I'm going to read them all, though. What do you guys think? I would love to hear your opinions!

And I wasn't sure I'd like 'A Tale of Two Cities' but ended up loving it. It's a lot less baggy and drawn out than others of his I've read and there are some wonderful images. But quite a wrenching read.

Welcome to the Diamond Jubilee club! All of your choices are on my to-be-read-over-the-next-few-years list.

Good picks! Last year I listened to Dracula on Audible as I walked around the neighborhoods enjoying the Halloween decorations, spooky but fun. David Copperfield is one of my top 3 Dickens favorites, you will really enjoy it. I plan on reading Villette for the first time this Victober as well.
Theresa,Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee was a celebration of her 50th anniversary on the throne.
I turned 50 this year & am calling it my Diamond Jubilee.
Jh1rn,
I read 'Dracula' many years ago & enjoyed it.
Somewhere I heard that it taps into the Victorians' fear of syphillis & of the immigrants that were coming into England at that time & suspicions of their customs & behaviours.
I've been meaning to reread it to see if I think that's true.
