Who at first did you think was the DT killer?
Carmi Philander Carmi Aug 30, 2021 12:54PM
I KNEW that it was Jason Bell when I first read Andie's secret e-mail. But then Pip threw me off track, almost convincing me it was Dan Da Silva. I wished it wasn't Jason because then it would actually not be a twist since I kinda guessed it, right? So, when the DT Killer was indeed Jason, I was quite disappointed...but great book over all– all 3 of 'em, in fact!

I actually thought it had something to do with DI Hawkins, cuz why not? One thing this series taught me is that it never hurts to be suspicious of practically everyone (maybe sometimes it does) lmao. But then in Andie's email, written before she died, it mentiooned someone in the police so like yeah, Hawkins was actually a good guy and Jason was the DT killer, still makes sense. Omg Team Ravi and Pip! <33. I'm not ashamed to say that this series has officially dethroned The school for good and evil series as my number 1 (stil in my top 10 though) and got me hooked into mystery books! The way each book ends is so consistent that it makes me want to read more after each one ends, that's why I was beaming with happiness when I knew that book 3 was out!

Maren I had the exact same suspicion!

@Alexis Jamison, like same—I was shocked that she suspected Daniel to be the killer and then again surprised that i was right about Jason
@Ellie, very observant I see

I knew it was Jason as soon as I remembered from good girl bad blood, when Pip and Ravi walked past the bell house and Pip looked behind her and saw Jason staring at her. She said she felt like she was marked or something like that.

It was plain as day that Jason was the DT killer after reading Andie's draft and it was so disappointing to see that Pip wasn't able to figure it out. I also remembered Andie's purple hairbrush, and had an inkling that it could be one of the trophies.
I hoped atleast Ravi would be able to crack it, but alas, it never happened :(

@isabelle♡♡ Yeah, that actually makes a lotta sense. Idk why I even overlooked Max as a suspect. The guy had motive

I actually knew it was Jason from the moment pip found out that green scene is Jason’s firm and I was sure from the moment we found out that Jason went to his work the night Andy died

at first I was convinced it was her lawyer mr Rodger lmao but after the unsent email I was screaming at her and Ravi that it was clearly Jason and yet they attempted to convince me it was Daniel da silva??? I think not

Honestly? Max.

i thought it was dawn because of the pendant!! it was when pip went over to talk to jason initially (I forget all the details, but it was pretty early on) and she walked past dawn bell (his wife) and she was fiddling with a pendant on her neck. i remembered instantly that one of the victims was found without their pendant and it was likely that the DT killer had taken it as a trophy. now I was skeptical of the DT killer being a woman, as the crimes were so misogynistic and I had a hard time seeing a woman do such a thing to another woman, but I figured she might be linked to it somehow. after that I pretty quickly figured out it was jason bell

I honestly had zero predictions but I wasn't caught off guard by the fact that it was Jason Bell...

I honestly did not suspect Jason at all about being the DT killer, it was a shock, but now it all makes sense. I was going along with Pip's theory that Dan Da Sivila was the killer, when we found out Andie couldn't go to the police and the other evidence, this made Dan seem more of a suspect of being the killer. When it was revealed that Jason was the killer, my jaw dropped!

after Andie's email i KNEWW it had to be Jason. it definitely threw me off when Pip pinned all her suspicions on Dan Da Silva and practically ignored Jason as the possible DT Killer when in the past she was more open minded about her suspects and didn't blindly rule anyone out.

I knew it would be either Jason or Daniel as soon as Pip made her persons of interest list. As soon as Pip started thinking it was Daniel, I was like yep, it's Jason, coz Holly always makes you think someone throughout the book and then twists it. Love the way she writes though!

idk. i thought dan, but as im writing this i dont think he could pull it off yk?

i didn’t really have any solid predictions but i was on board with the dan da silva theory. i thought it MAYBE could’ve been luke eaton but that was more of a throwaway guess than a prediction.

Glad to see people are still commenting on this😄

And to read how everyone's mind worked when figuring out who's the culprit.

no cause real like it was so obsivouly him and it was so easy to guess through the email which kinda ruined the rest of the book for me bc it left me with no more plot twists and like it was jus so obvious pip was gonna get away with the murder so the ending was basically already spoiled for me

honestly, i thought it was nat😭

At first, I thought it was Jason Bell, and then I felt like that was too obvious so that it just couldn't be him. I didn't have a second suspect in mind.

I suspected Jason right from the beginning but knew for sure it was Jason Bell after reading Andie's email draft. It was so weird to me that Pip didn't suspect him after reading the email.

I immediately thought it Jason from the letter then I was surprised by the whole De Silva route

i thought that it was ravi. i honestly thought that since ravi was so close to pip he would be able to get all of the info she had on the dt killer that he decided to go for her. idk i might just be crazy but yeahhh lol

I had like two options for who it was. Jason Bell, Dan da Silva. When i read about Dawn fiddling with her necklace though I knew for sure. It was soooooo obvious.

I always thought Jason was sus since the first book so I never trusted him and wasn’t so surprised when I found out he was the DT killer

I immediately thought it was Jason, I have always thought of him as a strange character from the beginning of the series, and I knew something had to be wrong with him. Even though throughout the book other people came in sight as possible suspects, I never really changed my mind about Jason.

well, i was thinking that it's either Jason Bell or Daniel Da Silva, so it was like.. it's him or him?

I was 100000% sure it was Jason when in the book they were talking about his company

Jason seemed sketchy in the first book, but now reading that he is the DT killer all makes sense. It really makes me wonder if the third book was planned when the first book was written!

I also figured it was Jason so when it was confirmed that he was I was like "wait but we're only halfway through the book, there's gotta be more to this!?" but I never saw comming what happened then, ngl XD

Kaity: "It really makes me wonder if the third book was planned when the first book was written!"– I know, right! These books were all connected, well-planned, well-written. Kathi: "wait but we're only halfway through the book, there's gotta be more to this!?"– Yea, the action started soon, i liked that. This book revolved more around Pip and her survival than investigations and interrogations.

I was suspicious of basically anyone and everyone. I thought it would be a good twist if it had been a female killer especially if it was someone whom Pip had always portrayed as a kind person.
I think it was very clever the way Jackson managed to tie the suspicions of Jason in the first book into the ending of the trilogy.
It would also have been interesting if DI Hawkins was the DT killer or was aware of who it would have been. In the end, I get the feeling that Hawkins knew that it wasn't Max that had killed Jason, but not necessarily that it was Pip.

Eilidh, if there was a button 2 like your comment, i wudve clicked it, but since there isnt– i like it...i actually agree with all that😃

I was pretty suspicious of Jason ever since Pip bumped into Dawn Bell after going to the cafe. Jackson mentioned the detail of Dawn fiddling with a gold necklace or something, and I immediately thought of the trophies, as why would she include a random detail about a random necklace on a random person if it wasn’t related to the mystery? I think that my thoughts were confirmed when Pip saw the not cropped version of Andie’s planner and noticed the lilac hairbrush before reading her email. Andie’s email so clearly points to Jason - she was talking about someone who had dinner with them, and Pip immediately thought to who they could have invited over to dinner, not the obvious of who would have dinner with Andie every day. I was then quite curious to find out what would happen next as there was still half of the book left and the murderer was confirmed by the author.. I was not expecting what happened in part 2!

I was assured that it was Jason I had made the connections with the items off the previous victims before hand. I though when Pip went to visit Jason Bell and walked past his wife that her necklace was also one of the 'trophies' I went on to think that he gave them to both of his daughters as well but I was thrown off guard when the suspicion was now thrown onto Dan Da Silva I was kind of confused but went with it but the hairbrush just made me continue to think it was Jason.

I kind of wish it wasn't Jason because most things where forced onto the Bell family but when I finished the book it did make sense.

I am only on page 128 and I guess I kind of spoiled it for myself but, as soon as I read that Jason Bell also worked at the Green Scene landscaping company, I knew he was the DT killer. I rememeber in the first book, he was a main suspect for a while because Pippa found out that he left his dinner the night Andie was killed. Pippa never found out where he went in the first book, and now this explains it. Im guessing, he left and he went and killed Tara Yates who was murdered the same night as Andie. I came on here to confirm my theorie before finding out anything else.

@Grace Cotty, i absolutely hate spoilers😂i avoid them at all costs. If i have a theory, i finish the book instead of clicking on anythin related to spoiling the plot twist! But u guys seemed way smarter than me 2 have suspected Jason just like that— the series had my mind reeling lol😅💕

I always felt Jason was skeptical. Especially since this third book when they brung up Jason being the owner of the company & when Pip questioned him about the break in setting off the burglary alarm and him not giving up the information and instantly getting offended and telling Pip to leave. Also for some reason i pictured him
looking exactly like that sketch lol.

I had guessed it was Jason too, Daniel Da Silva was out of my suspect list when he asked her if she was ok yk. Jason bell seemed the most obvious answer, according to the description of who the DT killer can be by the police too. "Some who doesnt think women should be respected as equals" and remember Bella's friend's interview? bullseye. I loved the series it was phenomenal, I just think the conclusion of the third book could have been a tad better maybe, but overall it is an enticing, mind blowing series and at my number 1 no doubt.

i knew in the first like 75 pages of the book that it was Jason. it was so obvious it kind of made me sad.

i thought it was Jason because when she went to question him about the DT killer he said she wasn't welcome, slammed a door in her face, and STARED THROUGH THE DOOR UNTIL SHE LEFT???????? When Pip said she thought it was Dan I highly disagreed.

I knew it was Jason Bell pretty early on, I'd say? I mean he'd always been pretty sketchy. But we also see his wife dawn, and Pip specifically mentions that she is fiddling with a pendant on a gold chain. Which seemed like an odd detail.

Enough that I went back to look at the sketch + the tokens that he had taken from the women. When she found Andie's email that solidified it for me.

omfg from the SECOND i read Andie's email I KNEW it was Jason. It clicked from there that all Andie ever did was just to escape her father and to protect her sister. But yeah, I figured it out pretty early on and I was generally suspicious of him even before the email was revealed

^ah ok

I knew it was Jason Bell straight away. I said to myself "that's how I see Jason Bell or Max" when I first saw the mug shot off the DT killer.

I pieced it together straight away. I remembered Jason left to go to his work in the first book which I always found suspicious.

When Pip went to go talk to him and as soon as she left she got a call from the DT killer but it only happened when she was out off site from the house.

There was also the trophies; dawn fiddling with her necklace and the lilac hairbrush next to Andies planner.

I thought Pip was a bit dumb to miss all of this but I guess Jackson had to write it like that for the sake of the length of the book.

Very early on in this book. Before she found Andie’s email draft. Probably when they mentioned who owned the company Billy worked at. I was shocked when she immediately thought of Daniel and not Jason. And I was shocked when I was right, since it seemed way too obvious.

I had a feeling ever since I read the news excerpt "has strong views on how women should behave and by taking away their face" stuff, as it was mentioned in agggtm that Jason was very toxic to his family, kept telling them they weren't good enough and shit. But when I read Andie's e-mail i was sure it was him. Holly Jackson did try to take away the attention from him to Dan but it was kinda obvious.

I 100% thought it would be nat’s ex bf I forgot his name but everything started with drvgs so it makes sense rlly
