You don't need to read the Grisha trilogy before the SoC duology, but it would be better to read everything chronologically.
I liked the shadow and bone more than six of crows. I couldn’t even get past the first chapter, I haven’t read it since. I have all the books, maybe I’ll try to read it again. (There’s just too many perspectives in the book, which I don’t always like). But let’s hope the second time around it’ll be better.
Chapter one of SoC doesn’t represent the whole thing. None of the books really do, the author is not that good at beginnings.
Still, I couldn’t even get into the story. While the shadow and bone drew me in since the beginning.
If it helps chapter one characters aren’t in the story again. I hate to say this, but you can skip it
When I first read Six Of Crows Duology I didn't knew shadow and bone existed so I don't think you need to read it first. And personally speaking I think six of crows is way better than shadow and bone so I'd say go for Six of crows first
I read shadow and bone first and I do agree that six of crows is better but I feel like shadow and bone explains stuff better. My friend read six of crows first and she said she didn’t like it and she was confused a lot of the time and when she read shadow and bone a lot more made sense. So I guess shadow and bone if you want more of the grisha side and six of crows for more of the Ketterdam and other countries side as well as crime lol

I read the first shadow and bone book, haven’t read siege and storm yet but I’m more interested in Six of Crows. I liked Shadow and Bone but not a lot, and I get the feeling that I’d prefer Six of Crows, would you say I have to finish the Shadow and Bone trilogy before I read the rest of the Grishaverse books or do they work on their own too?
