I’ve been meaning to pick that one up-have heard good things about it.

That was really good on audio. It reminded me of the old vh1 show behind the music.

Last night I finished Extremely loud and incredibly close and thereby the Fall challenge :-)
I liked it, it had such amazing parts that moved me… thought the structure was brilliant with pages with only one sentence or completely blank, coloured accents tk support the story etc …but thought it was a bit all over the place at times… anyway … a nice read and now looking forward to the Winter challenge :-)

Awesome Franzi! I read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close last year during that weird 2020 period when libraries were closed. I. had purchased a paperback copy back in 2011 when the film adaptation starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock was a new release. I was working at the movie theater in 2011 and loved the movie, but never got around to reading the book until 2020 made me dive deep into my personal bookshelves. if you haven't seen the film, I'd recommend it. I think Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close could work for at least 3 tasks of the Fall Reading Challenge: Tom Hanks film adaptation, a book that makes you cry, and the letters CSI in the title. Maybe a housewife with a secret too.
Anyway, Congratulations on completing the Fall Reading Challenge Franzi!

Do you start a new journal every year? Mine I keep writing in it until its filled which takes several years. I pretty much stopped recording my book journal back in 2009/2010 when I joined Goodreads. I still write in my journal infrequently, but GR has replaced my book journal aspect.

Dustin, congrats on the new job. Fine chocolate is my weakness and I agree with Janet that orange and chocolate are a match made in heaven. I will check out your website.
I'm late to the decision process but either Harlem Shuffle or Under the Whispering Door are good for me. Sorry for the delay.
I've been to 3 movies recently. I saw Dune, loved it, visually stunning and I think they did a great job of capturing the look and feel of the novel. I saw No Time to Die, had no trouble lusting after Daniel Craig. I also saw the quirky French Dispatch. I admire Wes Anderson's imagination and the look of his movies. Belfast and The Eternals are next on my list.
I hope to finish a couple more books for the challenge by the end of the month. I'm having a hard time with My Heart is a Chainsaw. That one I probably won't finish.
I picked up Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo at The Strand. This will be the first time I've read a physical book of hers. I've listened to Malibu Rising and Daisy Jones & The Six. Loved them both.
I also keep a book journal. I have since 1992. My mom gave it to me because "sometimes we forget".
Just in case, I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving and you get to share it with those you love this year. Hugs to all!

Sounds like a wonderful trip, Christine! :D
I didn’t realize To Kill a Mockingbird was on Broadway-glad you enjoyed it.
More good things about Dune-I’ll have to check it out.

may be a bonus read but haven’t decided yet.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving. :)

Dune is still my favorite in the movie theater right now.
I watched King Richard starring Will Smith as the father of Venus and Serena Williams. Really great film that I wished would have kept going. King Richard is my second favorite film currently in the theater. The only thing I didn't like was the Coca Cola product placement in the film.
Tomorrow the all star casted House of Gucci, C'mon C'mon starring Joaquin Phoenix, and Disney's animated Encanto hit theaters ahead of Thanksgiving. I'm excited to see all three.

I'm currently reading DUNE. Nothing to do with the Fall Reading Challenge other than it's a great Fall Film currently in theaters.

I really enjoyed House of Gucci. I'm ranking it #3 on my current favorites list. House of Gucci has some great humor and the music is fantastic. Music really makes a big impact in a film for me. There was some interesting moments in the film where it went to black and white to note an important event and then back to color.
After Dune, my second favorite is the new Joaquin Phoenix film C'mon, C'mon, which is black and white and covers a variety of topics.

Glad to hear you enjoyed House of Gucci. The trailer looks great. Assuming lots of music from 80’s. Blondie is playing during the trailer.

Yes. Lots of 80's music. House of Gucci starts in 1978, spends a lot of time in the 1980's, the film ends in 1995.

I finished

This is my favorite time of year to read so hopefully I can catch up on my books for the year.

I completed my goal of 10 books for the Fall Reading Challenge. I actually read a few more than that, but I'm behind on my reviews.
The last one I reviewed tonight has the letters C-S-I in the title,
Sorta Like A Rock Star by Matthew Quick

BELFAST - travel back to 1969 the film is only 1 hr and 37min, a likely nominee for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Great use of Black & White and Color, excellent framing of scenes, nice tribute to films of the era including clips with Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
TICK TICK BOOM! - a musical about the musical RENT, takes the viewer back to the 90's and tackles the AIDS crisis.
