Jane (PS) | 24334 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Team Captain - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme of Spring, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 10 September.

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Announcement thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Key selection and completion post information. You must have ALL elements in your book posts.

For the initial selection post Option 1 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
How the book qualifies - please insert a link to the qualifying bookshelf/list.
If the theme is based off the bookcover or a letter in the title etc, please just repeat the theme.

For the initial selection post Option 2 I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Page numbers
Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

For the completion post I need:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'll be tracking each team's progress separately, using the Captain's summary in each team's thread to check for accuracy.

A summary chart will be posted in the last week to let teams know their progress against other teams :)

R~wka (r-wka) | 899 comments Hello all! I'm Raluca, I'm from Romania, is posibile to make some mistakes with my English 😅. I like reading books with romance theme (Contemporan, paranormal, historical) but I prefer with happy end. Also I prefer standalone books or series without cliffhanger end. Also don't like love triangles. I love cats 🐱. (I have a cat named Bella).

I remember playing this game some time ago... Like 5+ years ago.

About the Team names. Some ideas... 🤔
(combine of Team One + Flowers + Books)
- One paper with roses
- The flowerbook readers nr. 1
- A colored petal
I'm not sleeping enough.... Maybe I'm coming up with other ideas 😅

Avigail (avigailr) | 665 comments Hello everyone, I am Avigail, and I am from Israel. I read from every genre, and I am open to every suggestion you have. This is my first time participating in this challenge, and I will accept any help.

Names that I can suggest are:
1) Sweet Cherry Blossoms.
2) Lilach & Fressia
I am open to picking anything that most of us like.

UnusualChild{beppy} | 1282 comments Hi, I’m beppy.
I’m from northern British Columbia, so I’m on Pacific time.

I think that it’s cool that, so far, we all live in different countries.

I read all different genres of romance, including m/m, historicals, and paranormal/fantasy.

Name suggestions: (which I suck at)

Daffodils & Pages
Blossoming Readers
Spring Around the World
Spring into Reading
Books & Blossoms

Lioness7 | 179 comments Hi all. I'm a little late checking in. Sorry about that. Thanks for messaging me.

I live in North Carolina. It's EST. I don't usually get on until late at night. It is harder for me to get internet during the day. It is hit and miss on whether my signal will be good enough to get online. At night, it is much better.

I love reading all kinds of books. My favorites tend to fall in the romance, horror, or fantasy categories though. If you can combine any of the three, I can get really excited. I'm not as much a fan of non-fiction unless I'm looking up plants or recipes.

I've done this challenge a couple of times. I don't tend to use the pass unless something comes up. I read anywhere from 4-7 books a week. I've been putting books back for challenges, so I am ready to go.

Dark Hunters has always been my favorite series and it was so good to jump back in after so long away, even if it was a reread. It is just so easy to lose myself in the incredible world and mythology that Sherrilyn Kenyon has created. It feels like visiting old friends. Wolf and Cassandra’s story is fun, sexy, and fast-paced, full of wonderful characters and action. I think it might be time to go back and reread more.

Lioness7 | 179 comments Lisa, I chose option 2 for reading. Listing the person, the rating, and the date read is how it qualifies, at least that is what the instructions said I needed to list. Let me know if you need more. I didn't do option 1 because I don't enjoy reading books with amnesia as a storyline.

Mariem | 55 comments Week #1
Bookcover/link; Hopeless (Hopeless, #1) by Colleen Hoover
Rating (1-5) 3.5 stars.
Review: This is maybe the fifth Colleen Hoover book I've read this year, and it's my second least favorite so far, not because it was bad , it really wasn't bad, but i just think that this book just wasn't for me.

When i started it i knew that it dealt with abuse and mental health and a lot of sensitive topics and i usually don't mind reading that , but still i just feel like this was too much for me. I just felt like this book was emotionally draining. I just felt like everything about it was sad, and even when things were going okay, i was just waiting for something bad to happen.

I loved Sky, i loved how funny and spontaneous she was, i loved how much she liked reading romance novels, and how sarcastic she was. At the beginning of the book, i loved Holder, but then at some points of the book, i just couldn't understand him and felt that it was just so frustrating.

Compared to the other colleen Hoover books I've read, this one was quite predictable to me, it felt like the books kind of kept putting hints at what was going to happen in the end, maybe to prepare the reader.

Overall this was good, but it just made my heart ache way too much. I will say that if you want to read this book you should first check out the trigger warnings for it, because I'm pretty sure it has a lot.

Finally yes Colleen is still one of my favorite writers, I'm still going to read most of her books but i don't think I'll be reading the next book in this series because I'm too scared it'll also break my heart.

Review:
This was a really fun and quick read. I loved the comedy in the book. That was my favorite part. I don't think I'll ever look at a sphinx cat the same way again.

The only thing that kept this from being a five star book for me was that the comedy seemed to lesson as you got past the middle of the book. Sure, there were a couple of good parts, but just not as much as in the beginning.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I enjoyed the comedy. I loved the ending.

Rating 3.5 -stars

Review: First time reading Jennifer McQuiston, and it certainly won't be the last one. It is a fast-paced book, and even the plot takes 48 hours, it is a sweet story. I will give it 3.5 stars. I listened to the audiobook while reading the e-book. Lana J. Weston, the narrator, does a fantastic job with the accents. I always like to listen to the audiobook when there is an accent that I believe the narrator will do a better job with pronunciation than me.
I had a good bit of fun reading. What a Happens. It's not a heavily romantic story, at least in the typical fashion, but it did have moments that had me letting out dreamy sighs. I really liked that this one stands out in a sea of romance that read largely the same. And it had a great resolution.
Also, James' parents were lovely and understanding. I would love to have an epilogue and to find out if Georgette & James moved to London or continued living in Scotland. Maybe we will found more about our couples in the books with the love story of Cameron & Patrick.

A Kiss to Remember (Once Upon a Time, #3) by Teresa Medeiros
A Kiss to Remember
Rating: 5⭐
Review:

This book was in my TBR for years. I kept postponing reading it, but this time I gave it a try, and I don't regret it. The book begins by telling how the hero became the Devil of Devonbrooke, and that make me like him. The Amnesia plot was a trigger to make the hero and heroine start a relationship. I'm not ok that the heroine lied to the memory-less hero and take advantage of his "innocence" to fulfill her purpose.

Although the title of the book is "A Kiss to Remember" the kiss that woke up the sleeping beauty didn't make him remember, more precisely he forgot everything, but in my opinion he remembered what he was like a child before it was "sold" by his parents.

And as a cat lover I am, the cats in story make me enjoying the book more XD (there are also 2 loyal dogs)

Overall, I can't complain anything about it. Maybe is a 4 star book but I'll give it 5, because my heart liked it.

* PS: I'm not used to wrote reviews

The Tycoon's Pregnant Mistress
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review:

Marley and Chrysander have been in a relationship for awhile, and she finds out that she is pregnant. Before she can tell him, he finds out that she has been selling company secrets, and gets furious with her. Marley walks away, and is abducted. The next Chrysander hears about Marley, she has been found, but she can't remember anything. Chrysander knows that the baby is his, so he determines to provide for them without getting his feelings involved.

This was a pretty typical Harlequin (even though it's Silhouette) plot wise, although the writing was stronger than most of them. Strong, remote, always right hero, and little ol' me heroine. Marley was fairly wishy-washy, even when she had her memory, although I did like the fact that she stood up for herself at the end and didn't let Chrysander and his family run all over her. I also liked that Chrysander actually apologizes and doesn't force it on her, letting Marley work through her feelings without putting the "I'm right so just get over it" pressure on her.
I had been thinking that I now have a heart of stone, because I haven't cried at book situations like I normally do, but this one took me by surprise and made me brought on the tears, which is why I've given it 3.5 stars.

Option 1
8. Spring - a geometric surface in the shape of a helically coiled tube

* Read a book with an MC who is working or studying in the field of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Qualification to be found in the precis, shelves or lists.

Here are some helpful*** (hopefully) lists:
STEM Heroines
2020 Women in STEM 1
Geeky STEM Romance
Gay Bookish, Nerdy, Geeky Characters

***Note - the 'helpful' lists do not automatically qualify the books, unless the title of the list clearly provides the required information.
Eg #8 - MC works/studies in STEM. The gay list does not automatically qualify the books on that list as it does NOT mention STEM in the list title.

Option 2
Key date: 12 March 2021
Team mate read on or after this date and rated at least 3 stars

Option 3
Pass

A selection post must be made for whichever option you choose - including a pass
