I have read this book but it’s been a few years back so I will be joining for a reread. Reminder the ebook is found on hoopla.
I read this one a little early because it's a busy month for me, but I can tell you all that it is certainly worth your time. Anyone loving Appalachian based literature is in for a treat. We have several questions for Charles already on the Q&A thread, so I'm excited to get to know this author a little better.
So glad to see 5 stars from you guys! I started last night and in no time at all was completely engrossed in these characters. I'm not far enough in to know the connection of the italicized section yet, but I'm intrigued to see what comes of that. Such beautiful writing and very lyrical. I'm highlighting some extremely thought-provoking lines.
Well, it didn't take long to answer my own question. I like the way this is set up. It lends itself well to seeing inside everyone's thoughts.
I read "A Shelter of Others" in a single day, with a couple of interruptions. Once I got about midway through the book I knew that I was going to finish it that day. Thanks for your review, Diane. I have been wanting to read this author and your wonderful review sealed the deal.
I have read 3 of Charles Dodd White's books now, and all are tailor made for this group's members. I don't know why it took us so long to discover him, but no turning back now.
