For everyone who loves myths and fairy tales in a modern urban setting Charles de Lint's Newford series is a must read.

There has been some confusion about the reading order. In particular the order listed on Goodreads was misleading, because it included many of his young adult books as well as books written under the name Samuel Key that are not integral to the main story.

The suggested reading order has now been revised:
From the blurb:A series of urban fantasy/mythic Fiction books set in the fictional North American city of Newford. Newford is not a sequential series--each novel or story stands alone as a complete tale. Though some characters show up in one another's tales, the books can be enjoyed independently. That said, The Onion Girl, Spirits in the Wires, and Widdershins—while also standalone novels—are loosely connected so de Lint suggests they be read in that sequence. Thanks for the list! I definitely plan on reading Forests of the Heart and The Cats of Tanglewood Forest this year.
