I believe I read this book 5-10 years ago. It might have been an e-book or e-novel (unpublished) too.

The story is about an advanced AI that becomes sentient, and as it expands its world knowledge its sensors identify an old woman dying of cancer / other illness. The AI decides to save the woman, and in that process advances world science to the level where it reshapes the planet, and creates massive energy sources in outer space to run it all.

People the world over are now unable to die, and they find more gruesome and difficult ways to die as a sport. Our heroine, patient zero, decides to shut down the AI and restore earth to a primeval era. She accomplishes this by reaching the nominal "source" of the AI and altering its value engine through a debate.
