I believe he was an immigrant from Europe. She was a beautiful girl he met at a dance, and he convinces her to marry him. When he leaves she has to move her daughters into an apartment and become a seamstress.
He flees to somewhere in South America I think. I remember so much about this book, but I just can’t seem to find it! I read it probably around 2016-2017
