The investigation eventually leads the team to the Brainbox event, an annual meeting for child prodigies, and it opens up a host of suspects. At this stage, who made your list of likely suspects and why?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I think everyone we met at the brainbox jumped on my list. They were all strange and appear to have a reason to murder. Although the organizers were my favorite. They didn't have a good alibi, and acted like they were covering something up.

Robin (robinmy) | 2466 comments Jared and Serena Whelmsley were high on my list. They had contact with all of the victims. Some of their actions were strange.

~Teresa The brother and sister organizers where probably the only two that didn’t hit my list. They were odd ducks and had a strange relationship as siblings, but that’s as far as it went. All the first time attendees got knocked off my list, also. I kept thinking it had to be a parent.

I thought it might be either Jared or Serena, too, but then I looked at Damien. He then fell of the list.

I don’t know why I never seriously considered Veronica. The more I got to know her, the more unlikely she seemed.

The way Kim kept pushing Stacey to look into Beth Nixon made me think it was someone close to her but I didn’t think specifically of her brother/Eric.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Definitely someone connected with Brainboxes. Quite a lot of likely suspects were thrown the readers way. The brother and sister team, Damian and even Beth Nixon or Veronica did cross my mind. The eventual killer wasn't on my radar because he wasn't mentioned much, only that Beth wasn't in contact I think. I've noticed this in a few of our latest buddy read books. Minor characters hardly mentioned are revealed as the killer. And it's really hard for the reader to pick this up with the limited information we're given.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments By this point, I had already realized that the killer was Beth Nixon's brother. There were enough clues about their being estranged and the idea of a resentful sibling. Therefore, my prime suspect was the desk clerk, Raymond. I had forgotten about Eric entirely, lol!

Boy, Marsons so cleverly fooled all of us.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1812 comments She certainly did!

Lynn (ftbooklover) Especially after they found Freddie, I suspected the Whelmsleys, but this was another red herring.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) She loves throwing them out there. I enjoy a good red herring but not so much when they added in without being a credible alternate part of the plot resolution.

Lynn (ftbooklover) She is very good at planting credible red herrings, forcing the reader to figure out if the clue is real or not.
