Sci Fi book about man that can time travel and teleport possibly by A. E. Van Vogt?

This book is about a man in the army and is in imminent danger while by a tank and automatically teleports out of danger, then later on he discovers he can teleport in space and time. He teleports to the distant future and there is a black hemispherical force field barrier around a large city. He teleports inside and discovers amazing technologies. I read the book in maybe 1972 - 74.
