10.1 TBR

Read a book you have had on your TBR for more than a year. This task may only be used once and cannot be used for combo.

10.2 Halloween

In honor of Halloween, read a book with a "death" word in the title. Please see the help thread for ideas.

10.3 Back to School

Read a book written by an author who has a current or previous profession of educator. If it is not clear from their GoodReads bio, please post a link in the help thread prior to posting for points.

10.4 Truth and Reconciliation (Valerie's Task)

Canada has declared Sept. 30 as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is meant to be a day to recognize and commemorate the legacy of the residential school system (our national shame) that impacted Indigenous communities.

Read a book by an Indigenous (to their own country/continent) author.

10.5 Classics (Ed's Task)

Read a book that has been classified as "Classics" by at least 100 readers on GR.

10.6 Birthday (Tien's Task)

It’s Birthday Season in my house!! My husband’s, my 2 sons’ & our dog’s. So, to celebrate, read a book written by a single author who identifies as male and whose birthdate is in September, October, or November.

10.7 Service (Anika's Task)

November 11 is Veteran's Day here in the US. Read a book in which one of the main characters is a soldier, active duty or veteran of a war or conflict, any branch of the military (medics/nurses count!).

10.8 Mediterranean (Coralie's Task)

Read a book set (at least 70%) in a Mediterranean country (ie one with a coast on the Mediterranean).

10.9 Oxford (Rosemary's Task)

As another academic year begins and students who have been studying from home for 18 months are finally returning to my city, read a book whose title or subtitle includes a word (excluding “the”) from the names of Oxford University colleges and halls found here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/about/colleges

You may discount possessives: for example, “Queen’s” is in the list, but “Queen” also works. Otherwise the match must be exact – so “Queens” (plural) would not work.

If reading in a language other than English, please use the title of the most popular English edition if there is one. If the book has no English edition, the equivalent word in the book’s language may be used (please explain when you post).

Some examples: Mansfield Park (“Mansfield” and “Park”); Dear John (from “John’s”); Dead Souls (“Souls”); The Spirit of St. Louis (“St”).

In honor of Elif Shafak's birthday, read a book written by one of the authors listed in the Category:Exophonic writers at wikipedia.com and the List of exophonic writers in the main section of that page.
