Call Me By Your Name

Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman revealed itself as a controversial novel due to the age gap between the two main love interests, Elio (24) and Oliver (17). However, this beautifully written love story is now one of my favorite romance novels. Compared to another romance novel I’m currently reading, both have a very slow build, but CMBYN was far more interesting for its colorful setting and daring tension.

Set in 1980’s Italy, Aciman takes the reader through a risqué love story. Your attention will be peeked and by the end your eyes will not be dry. Like many, I watched the film first, then read the book, and I loved both. I certainly recommend watching the film first for the visuals (and Timmy of course). The novel will then provide deeper thoughts from the perspective of Oliver that the movie cannot deliver. I found myself often connecting chapters and scenes.

This is one of the best love stories I’ve read so far. It left my heart in pieces. I’d give CMBYN 5/5 stars!

I read Call Me By Your Name after I had seen the movie and it did help while reading the books. This books will always be one of my favorite books. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a beautiful romance and who doesn't mind crying.
