At first, I think he thought she may be able to help him with the case, but he didn't trust her to not write a story that would hurt him and the Department. His opinion changed as she proved to be a very good sleuth in her own right. I'm hoping we will see him again in this series. I liked him.
In the beginning Nick didn't know how to take Max. She is a reporter looking for a story. He tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but that blue line is strong. It wasn't until he saw some bad police work (Beck) that he started to take Max seriously. I felt a little chemistry between Max and Nick. It will be interesting to see if they become an item. There is a good chance that Max will go back with Marco. This is a hard one to call.
I feel similarly to both of you. Nick came across authentically and he was right to have a “trust but verify” approach to Max. He welcomed her help but never lost sight of who she was at heart…a reporter.
They definitely have chemistry and I’d like to see them again. But he’s headed for Colorado and she back to New York and wherever her next case leads her. Jury’s out.

I felt bad for Nick that his wife was making him pull up stakes again. It is interesting that a cop didn't have a lawyer looking out for his interests. I have a couple friends with statements in their divorce that they have to agree to moves to another county in the state and no moves out of state until the children are eighteen.
I felt bad for him, too. I wish both parents would consider the impact on the children when making these kind of decisions.
Sharon, I've heard of some custody agreements where one parent can't uproot the kids and move unless the other agrees. It's so hard on the second parent who wants to be in their kids lives.
Jonetta wrote: "I felt bad for him, too. I wish both parents would consider the impact on the children when making these kind of decisions."Me too!
These decisions to move are usually by a selfish parent with the I want what I want and to heck with anyone else. That's how I picture Nick's ex.
Same here. I could understand if there were no other job prospects and it’s not financially viable to stay. This woman just decided she’d prefer a stepparent for her child. Ugh.
I think it was a combination of both. I liked Nick. He really listened to Max and considered what she brought to the table. It took him a bit to trust her since she's a reporter, but he soon realizes that she's more than that. I hope we see him again.
I liked Nick too. He wanted to trust Max, but knew that it could bite him in the end. He changed his opinion of her after she earned his trust and he backed her takedown of Caitlin.I think we will see him again.
I wonder how that will happen since he is moving to Colorado. Although Max likes long distance relationships.
