I read this book when I was in my early teens (in my early 30s now). It had to have been around 2001-2006 when I read this. It was age appropriate but I can't remember if it was a newly written book. I think it was part of a series that hadn't been completed. I think there were multiple kids that were high school aged and would travel back and forth between the normal world and the other realm. I think one of, or part of, the mission was to go to an underworld type place to find the key/item. I remember there being different rooms for prepping the kids for the mission. Like changing into different clothes and getting weapons? of some kind. This was nearly 20 years ago... The word Key might be in the title but I could be way off on that. And maybe each chapter was from the perspective of a different kid?
