Stuart Houghton | 3 comments Hi. My mother had a favourite book as a child in the 1950s UK but cannot remember there title. She says it was a lot like Swallows & Amazons but set on the Norfolk Broads. The title contained the word "Moon". Fairly sure it is NOT an Arthur Ransome, just a lot like him.

I would love to find out the title and if possible track down a copy for her. Thank you!

Stuart Houghton | 3 comments "The Norfolk Broads" obviously. Not three of them.

Genesistrine | 575 comments Was it definitely the Norfolk Broads? Or could Monica Edwards' Romney Marsh series be a possibility?

Early books in the series were very horse-focused, but the later ones got more general.

Lynn (lynnbar) | 126 comments When I read what you looking for I instantly thought of Moonfleet . It's not the one you're looking for but I remember reading it around about the same age that I was reading the Swallows and Amazons series and wonder if your mum may have misremembered and muddled the book names?

I also think that Coot Club may be the one you are searching for.

(Apologies for the appalling grammar - I really should get some sleep!)

Stuart Houghton | 3 comments Thanks all. I have run Coot Club and he Big Six past her and she is adamant it wasn't either of them. I will ask her about Romney Marsh/Wind on the Moon
