Hello like the topic title says i need help finding a book i don't remember.

I read it around 2016-2018
It was a teen fantasy book taking place in a magical world where people are branded as punishment, our protagonist gets branded but he meets with a woman who teaches him a few tricks

For the cover it consisted of three colors: Black, White and red with the two characters positioned similar to a king/queen play card. The woman had red hair with white streaks and the protagonist was dark haired

If anyone remember it i really appreciate it
