SOLVED. YA Detective series with Fantasy element. Group of teens solve crime. Read 2009. [s]

I read this book in 2009 but it might be older.It has these kids posing as a famous detective. There were around 4-5 YA and they would solve crimes under an alias which became a very famous detective. The fantasy thing was that the main kid could somehow live?experience? his (great?)grandfather's life. The grandfather also had the same name? and the face of the kid. I think it was set in on England but not sure. The time period in the book was around 1990s or so.It was a bit similar to Sherlock's setting.
Spoilers:
I vividly remember a scene in the book in which the mc in his ancestors life who has fighting with another boy and they somehow activate a trap door due to which they are stuck there. Then mc in present day finds the trap door and uncovers skeleton(s?) Also remember a scene where the other members of the group uncover a scheme to bomb? the city by villians in the underground subway (like the ones in England)
