I read this book sometime in the 90's... so it could have been written in the late 80's/early 90's. I think there may have been a series (of at least a couple more books)?
It's a YA book about a girl named Sunny that dresses up as a clown (candy striper) to visit hospital patients- in the book, she also does a school project where they have egg babies (have to take care of/protect an egg).
She has a best friend who might be the MC of at least one of the other books, if I recall.

I found it…, I was actually confusing two books I think.
The Changes Series by Barbara Steiner which includes Sunny Side Up… and Everbody Loves a Clown, but same author. I’d love to re-read these all but can’t find anywhere.
