Yes. I heard of them as a kid. I remember my father talking about them as part of the Cold War. I'm sure that is what some of this conspiracy was based on. I watched a JFK documentary this week on Netflix. It talks about a couple Russian women who were his mistresses and Hoover getting ready to leak the information.
Yes, there have been a few movies about them. Nikita with River Phoenix is one and isn't there a Netflix show called the Americans about this?

Do any of you remember the movie No Way Out starring Kevin Costner? In it they talked about this mythical “Yuri” who would have been born in this county and groomed by Russian parents who were seemingly US citizens. That’s the first time I’d heard of the concept so I did research and found it was a thing!

I love No Way Out. I knew about the arrest but I thought it was in the 90s for some reason. I didn't remember it was that recent.
