Did you enter into this story with any suspicions of Vanessa Jones, one of Liz’s assistants in the press office? Was there any point where you questioned if your suspicions were valid? When were you convinced of her guilt? Did you ever imagine she was connected to Joy, let alone her sister?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I was suspicious of her from close to the start. She was after Liz's job, Zack, and willing to help the Russians to get them into the WH. I never suspected any connection with Joy let alone her sister. That surprised me.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments Jonetta, it was your suspicions about Vanessa in the discussion of the last book that made it easy for me to accept that there was something fishy about her.

Also, her nasty comments about Liz in this book were a serious red flag. They convinced me she was the mole and that she used Liz's computer to communicate with Darby and to stop the FAA investigation.

I did not suspect her of being Joy's sister, but it is made clear early in the book that she and Joy were close (Joy was her mentor or something like that). This reinforced the idea that Joy and she were part of the conspiracy.

Yep, I came into this story already convinced that Vanessa was the mole in Liz’s office. Her unprofessional behavior sealed the deal. And why these nitwits didn’t tell Liz about her coming on to Zack defies logic. She would have fired her immediately.

But, I was floored to learn she was Joy’s half sister. Never saw that coming.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I always felt that Vanessa was involved in all this. Not sure if she was a mole but I thought at the very least, she was helping keep tabs on Liz. I didn't see the fact that she was Joy's half sister coming either.

Lynn (ftbooklover) I didn't predict her familial relationship with Joy - that was a shock for me, but she always seemed pretty sleazy.
