I have read something before very similar. I can't remember if the lead character was a male or female (but I'm pretty sure it's male), but they were either a write or an actor. They are overheard in a restaurant discussing the plot and a person sitting nearby mistakes them as a hitman and wants to hire him/her.

I even seem to remember a scene where the 2 people meet in a seedy restaurant or bar and are sitting in a booth.

I have just started reading Finlay Donovan is Killing It, and this book is SO familiar to me, but I have not read it before. At least, it's not on my Goodreads list / Audible list, etc. And since Finlay Donovan only came out six months ago, I THINK i would have remembered.
