Thanks! I'll try to read them in order then. I'll check if the library has the audios.

Edit - Interesting, my library has the first two on audio, but both are not available right now. The newest one is not available on audio. You would think if the first two are still being borrowed that they would get the third one.

A very good NetGalley month for me! A lot read and a lot of good ones! I also caught up on my reviews last week so I only had one to write that I finished on Sunday.

Since joining NetGalley Readers (the other group that I don't even visit anymore lol), I've doubled my ratio. It's still in the garbage but hey, progress!

message 316: by Marnie (new)

Marnie (marnie19) | 143 comments Wow Elyse that number looks daunting. Congratulations.

I am a baby NetGalley reader but I did read a few in October
The Kamogawa Food Detectives (The Kamogawa Food Detectives, #1) by Hisashi Kashiwai
The Good Part by Sophie Cousens
Keep Your Friends Close by Lucinda Berry
The Secret (Jack Reacher, #28) by Lee Child
The Mystery Guest (Molly the Maid, #2) by Nita Prose
The Couple in the Photo by Helen Cooper

All 4 star reads for me with my favorite probably The Mystery Guest. I’ve now read all my 2023 books and will start on 2024 later this month. I have gotten more organized about NetGalley so books don’t fall through the cracks.

message 317: by Tasha (last edited Nov 04, 2023 04:51AM) (new)

Tasha Elyse, a great month! I put Murder by Degrees on hold at the library.

message 318: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I read 1 book for NG in October:

Roman Stories by Jhumpa Lahiri , 3 stars (being generous). I thought her writing was good, I just thought the stories were not very engaging, for me.

Starting ratio: 90%
Ending ratio: 91%

Added 1 book: All We Were Promised by Ashton Lattimore

Books on shelf atm: 3

Currently reading: The Children's Bach by Helen Garner which was offered to me from the publisher. I'm enjoying it.

Tasha Marnie, I added The Kamogawa Food Detectives (The Kamogawa Food Detectives, #1) by Hisashi Kashiwai to my tbr, it sounds really good! I am reading through Before the Coffee Gets Cold series now and really enjoy it so I'm really curious about this one. There is a GRs giveaway going on with Kamogawa now. Did you read Before the Coffee Gets Cold series? Just curious how they compare.

I have not read Before the Coffee Gets Cold but it’s on my TBR. I was given this book as a widget ( my very first widget) and since I tend to enjoy Japanese literature I was excited to read it.

Tasha I read Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries in October and really enjoyed it. I think it should have won the GRs award! I'm not big on fantasy but that was lighter and really so well-done.

Nice job on the reads!

message 329: by Tasha (last edited Dec 11, 2023 05:36AM) (new)

Tasha I read 2 in November:

The Christmas Appeal, ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Children's Bach, ⭐⭐⭐

I added 2 as well (both non-fiction):

Cerebral Palsy: A Story: Finding the Calm After the Storm
Under a Rock

I'm at 90%
I have 4 books on the shelf to read

The Paleontologist by Luke Dumas- 4⭐
Baby X by Keira Peikoff-5⭐
A Dark Roux by Blaine Daigle- 4.5 ⭐
Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Lord audiobook -4⭐

That was my November, Tasha. I'm planning to finish The Women today and will update here soon, but I definitely added a lot more than I finished in December. I'm going to have to focus on my NG shelf in January.

message 337: by Tasha (new)

Tasha The only thing I added this December was the free reading journal from NG. I haven't really looked thru it much. Did anyone else download it and what do you think?

Yes, I downloaded the journal too! It was actually surprisingly cute! I love the monthly check ins, the overall year goal (and then check in at the end) and the extra activity challenge pages at the end.

But I didn't really find the "review" pages helpful (although I know others will) since I review everything here! lol

message 339: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2898 comments Mod
I got it too. I like the idea of it and it has great tabs to bring you wherever you want to go, which is great, but I don't have the right app to edit it. So, it's kind of useless for me unless I print it or download an editing. app, which I don't have time to look into right now.

message 340: by Tasha (new)

Tasha That's what I'm feeling as well. I did get the app for my phone but then it looked like it was a free trial version. I'm most likely not going to pay for an app. I did move it over to my google drive thinking I could edit it that way but I don't think so. I'll still play around and look at it more thoroughly though.

My percentage for 2023 went from 63 books with an 85% ratio at the start of the year to 91 books with an 80% ratio at the end of the year. So not a great year for me on Netgalley. But I am determined to actually catch up in 2024, it's way too stressful always being behind.
