Cy Helm | 69 comments Have you ever met someone, only to discover that not only are they a SFF fan, but also a S&L listener?

Last weekend, my wife, grandson, and I were on a trail ride in Colorado with Brealle, the wrangler. Brealle was explaining the differences among horses' gaits: walk, trot, canter, and gallop. Like many of you, I remembered the unicorn riding scene in Split Infinity. As soon as I mentioned "unicorn," Brealle said, "Split Infinity." She's twenty. I read the book fifteen years before she was born, and she had borrowed it from her mom's library five years ago. When I asked her if she know about the podcast, she said, "I love me some science fiction and fantasy."

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 2898 comments I work at an academic institution and have discovered at least two co-workers who participate because I outed myself in the forums in various ways. One (hi V-!) had even arranged to have our own little discussions of the monthly book but then she moved away.

Not just out in the wild though. I'm one of those people who if someone is reading the book of the month will definitely ask if they're "reading it for Sword and Laser" and if they look confused, I just act mysterious like they didn't know the secret handshake. While others I have recruited to S&L by asking....

*secret handshake*
