Mostly what I remember was the colony in the late stages of preparing for the two-year winter. Children ages ten or so cannot remember a winter, so I think one is included as a POV character who is inexperienced. I believe there might have been some conflict (more political, not an outright physical conflict) between humans and the planet’s natives, but frankly I can’t remember the plot. I don’t think it was by a big-name Sci-fi author.
