I have read the entire Darkest Powers series, and (no spoilers to the other books), but I personally was very shocked and unhappy with the ending of the first book. It just was very abrupt. Like, Chloe's escaped from Lyle House (yay!) only to end up in another metal hospital! I really wished that either
a) Chloe didn't end up in the hospital until the NEXT book
OR
b) She got in the hospital a lot earlier in the book, and that the author added a little more detail to that particular part.

All in all, it was a great book, and frankly a great series!! I was engaged the whole time, and the book kept on topic (most of the time). To those who are still reading or starting to read this series, enjoy!
