SOLVED. YA Fantasy book about Magic book and daughter's search for her father. [s]

I read this book in my Middle School Library 15 years ago and cannot remember what it is but think of it often. Unfortunately the details are very hazy in my mind.

Young adult book about a daughter on an adventure to find missing/dead father. Mother was dead. It had something to do with a book she found and there was magic involved.

Had a title like The Alchemist or The Book Thief or The Magician but none of these are the book.

There were more than one - I think this was part of a trilogy but I do not remember specifically how many their were.

Beautiful intricate cover with a pattern going around and gold leaf. Book was blue and there was a red or yellow one too.

That is definitely it and seems so obvious in hindsight! Thank you so much! I have to reread them now to see if they were as good as my preteen self thought.
