I have a couple pending that are just sitting there. I have my fingers crossed for them though. All the Dangerous Things and Exiles.

Tasha I have The Island on hold at the library. If I get it around your buddy read, I'll join in.

Any idea when it is expected? I don't know when mine will be in. It just says soon, but it will likely be a little after the planned buddy read. We could always jump in late together if it works out.

message 254: by JenniferJ (new)

JenniferJ | 81 comments Kristie I will be late on The Island too. Think it said like 7-8 weeks unless somebody skips their time that is line ahead of me.

Ok, I can pause it for a little bit if everyone is waiting on copies.

Vicki Willis | 871 comments How about October 10 for The Family Game?

message 257: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 871 comments I would love to join The Island. That author is usually off the hook!
I got denied for it though. I will see if I can put in a request from the library

I guess this is where I admit that I've never read anything by Adrian McKinty before. lol I am getting it through the library too, Vicki. I think at least a few of us are. I hope you are able to get it too.

message 259: by Vicki Willis (new)

Vicki Willis | 871 comments I have
The Last Folk Hero The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson by Jeff Pearlman The Last Folk Hero: The Life and Myth of Bo Jackson - I LOVED Bo Jackson when I was growing up so I hope this is good.
and
The Maze (John Corey, #8) by Nelson DeMille The Maze - this is the latest John Corey series
coming up in October. I am looking to read in late August or September.
Any one have these?

Thereadingbell | 239 comments I Remember You by Brian Freeman I am reading this right now omg this is a good book. I wanted to tell you this so if anyone wants to pick it up before it leaves Netgalley I would do it soon. It does kind of start off a bit slow but picks up even the slow part is good. I am half way and so far really good book.

Thanks! I looked at this one several times. I love the cover. It is included with Kindle Unlimited, so I might just grab it there.

I really like this Minnesota author and I can't recommend his books enough! My local library book club, we read one of his books The Deep, Deep Snow this year and he came to the meeting to talk. He is very personable and it was a fun meeting. He's scheduled to come again when we read the sequel The Ursulina next year.

ETA: I Remember You is also free right now on Kindle Unlimited

I didn't realize that was the same author, Karen. I actually own three of his books (including The Deep, Deep Snow), but haven't read any yet.

Oh, that's disappointing, Gem. It doesn't publish until February, so maybe they'll add it again.

Gem ~ZeroShelfControl~ (zeroshelfcontrol) | 39 comments Ive wished for it, so will keep my fingers crossed. I was granted a wish last month, the first time since 2016

Sorry, Chelsea. I don't have that one and it is currently just 'wish for it'. I think at least one of our group members has it to read though.

Yay Trisha! How does maybe Tuesday sound to start? Unless anyone else would like to join and needs more time?

Bummer. Not sure if anyone has KU but I bet it will be on there + the audio for free once released.

Trisha | 1583 comments Does anyone have any oldies they need to get through (and think a buddy reading with them might help!?) I have a whole backlog I need to get through (that pesky year I took off from reading) and was just curious if anyone also did and wanted to try to read some together?

I still have some backlogged but they are mostly from 2018/2019 and now I feel a bit pressured for current reads since I dont have as much reading time until I get back home on the 28th of the month.

Gem ~ZeroShelfControl~ (zeroshelfcontrol) | 39 comments Trisha I have a shelf on my page called Netgalley to be read. If there’s any on there you have I’m happy for the encouragement too

Did you want to try to plan:

The Family Remains (The Family Upstairs, #2) by Lisa Jewell Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin

I am really open in October and can plan them anytime (as I own them!)

Gem ~ZeroShelfControl~ (zeroshelfcontrol) | 39 comments Yes!! Happy for both tbh. One first week, second week the other?

Trisha | 1583 comments oh my gosh, we have so many books the same on our review shelves!!! YAY!!
but I don't want to overwhelm you with planning them all! lol

so

I had originally planned to read these 3 sometime over the next 2 weeks:

I would love to read these in October:
The Toll by Cherie Priest Even Greater Mistakes Stories by Charlie Jane Anders All the Tommys in the World by Javier Gombinsky The Grimrose Girls (Grimrose Girls, #1) by Laura Pohl Where Darkness Blooms by Andrea Hannah One of the Girls by Lucy Clarke

All the rest!:

I'm open to tackling this any way you want. I wasn't sure how fast you wanted to get through these and/or how booked up you are for reading over the next few months. I'm completely open and am trying to get caught up so we can read any many or as few as you'd like!!

I'd be open to one a week. And if we both get done sooner than that, diving right into the next one instead of waiting the full week, unless others want to join in as well. :)
