I’m so devastated by all that happened and honestly it’s taking time to process since so much happens all at once. I’m still reeling that Razer was playing her the whole time 🤬😭🤬😭 now he’s most likely dead and he really just killed the other girl after all this, like wtf, ughhh I’m so upset by this end and feel like I need to start the last book ASAP because these alien conscious’s or whatever they are need to go. I am still a bit confused on what they are. The end of the book went so quick I’m not sure I fully processed what Vosch was saying to Ringer. Are they humans? Or are they nothing, just there but not. Which only confuses me more because if they don’t even have physical form what do they even need or want a planet for? Lastly I will say the audio was a challenge to listen to because it doesn’t notate when there’s a POV shift. Had to make sure I was paying attention lol (hide spoiler)]

Not sure how Evan is alive? I’m honestly sad that he is, now he’ll just be this she’ll of himself 🙁 how did he even survive when she was so sure she killed him?
Will Ringers’ child be special like her too? And why couldn’t sam and Cassie have repaired their relationship before she went off to die, I hated how he treated her and moved all his loyalties onto Zombie. Just so messed up also to think he blamed her for so much that just wasn’t in her power to control. Ive really enjoyed this series but this book was just an ok end for me. Guess it could have been worse. It wasn’t a horrible end but compared to the excitement and crazy from the previous two I definitely expected more. Too bad the movie didn’t do well, they would have had a chance to redeem the final book in a film lol. Now I kinda wanna watch it too

End of part 1 (The Last Historian) - (view spoiler)[I forgot how much I appreciate Cassie's philosophic voice and her authentic words. I'm easily reminded why I loved this the first time.

End of part three (Wonderland and Silencer) - (view spoiler)[Feeling lukewarm about Ben again? Check (although I do think the audio reader does him pretty well, better than the whiny female reader for Cassie, or at least what I caught in the tail end of chapter 24).

Falling in love with my first book boyfriend Evan Walker all over again? Triple check. He's honestly the character more books need, who questions their values and switches over to the protagonist's side. This trope is so underused! (Although I do wish they got a different audio reader for him than for Ben.) (hide spoiler)]

End of part five (Mayfly and The Winnowing) - (view spoiler)[I love all the scenes with Evan and how he's just constantly fighting both sides of himself. I love science fiction books that discuss what the idea of humanity looks like in the future and what it means, and Evan definitely does that. It's also interesting how Cassie and Ben both come to the "something's wrong" realization at roughly the same time (considering time is weird as each POV has a section)

I also forgot how much I liked the Sammy POV chapters, especially with Megan. Both Cassie and Sammy are perceptive beyond their years, but not in an "I don't know how to write children" way. (hide spoiler)]

End of part 6 (The Human Clay) - (view spoiler)[I'm actually liking Ben more than I did in my first read. He truly has a hard job, and is being genuinely a good person about everything. (hide spoiler)]

End of part 9 (The Heart to Kill, The Spirit of Vengeance, and A Flower to the Rain) - (view spoiler)[I love everything that happened in this chapter. It's so full of conflict from all parties, and so full of human-ness and the questions surrounding that.

BTW, after my reread of the series I may end up resuming my happy ending fanfiction where Cassie doesn't die, the one I thought I abandoned years ago. I'll keep you posted. (hide spoiler)]

FINISHED (view spoiler)[I'm happy to say I am as invested as I was the first time. This was a wild ride the entire time.

I remember last time, when I was freaked out whether Evan was alive or not. Now, knowing the ending, I kind of wish he did die in this one. Evan is easily my favorite character, but Cassie is a close second, and I hate thinking about how she goes out. (hide spoiler)]
