SOLVED. Childrens book. About a mystery on an Island. Possibly Scotland? Sheep being killed. [s]

Possibly called "Claws", but I cant find it myself despite hours of searching.
I remember a Land Rover being driven. Lots of mist.
The Cover had Snow, a broken pair of round gold rimmed spectacles, and some blood.
Early 1980s perhaps.
Thin book.

Could it be Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children? Takes place on a Welsh Island (not a real place) - but sheep are killed by one of the monsters in the book.

That sounds like a similar setup, but doesn't sound like the one I'm after. There wasn't any kind of children's home or anything like that.
I'm almost positive that mine had a one word title.

Oh, and I read it when I was about 10 or 11, so around 1983-ish?~
I recall we had a bunch of new books arrive at school. They were thin, and mixed genres, but all seemed to be from the same press, perhaps part of some collection.
