Books like: the Touchstone series - displaced person, some adventure and hopefully romance.

I have the worst book hangover after re-reading Andrea K Hosts Touchstone series.

It's about a young girl who, on her way home from school, ends up on another planet. She assimilates to a new culture, learns a new language, discovers some interesting powers and falls in love. And there's happy ending.

I want to read a new version of this exact same thing. Or something very similar anyway. Hasn't got to be in a fantasy or sci-fi setting, don't mind if it's YA or NA or what ever the term is for proper grown ups. But I like the fish out of water trope, the adjusting etc. Romance is a must but don't mind if it's not central or if it's slow burn and a HEA is a definite.

Any suggestions?

I'm currently enjoying the first book in the Touchstone series but just happened to be browsing here and spotted this:

Doors of Sleep by Tim Pratt. Sounds like it might be interesting but I've no idea if there is any romance in it... I also have no idea what an HEA is. Sorry.

If you can find a copy of Anne McCaffrey's very first ever book Restoree, it is about a woman who is kidnapped off earth and rescued - she has adventures and a romance. The feel is a bit dated (from the late 60's), but it is similar in overall tone to Touchstone.

Rather different is Heinlein's Have Space Suit—Will Travel about a boy and a younger girl who are captured by aliens. No romance, but old-fashioned science-fiction.
