looking for this book about some animals trying to maintain a garden for an old couple. Anyone know it?

Hey, my dad told me about this book he read as a kid. He doesn't remember the title and we have been trying to search the book with no luck so far.

The book is apparently about some animals that live in a garden. They try to maintain the garden because the old couple who keeps it can't maintain it well anymore. The animals try to preserve their home and keep the garden for the couple.

That description might not be perfect. If anyone knows the book I'm looking for or have any suggestions as to what the book might be please respond and let me know. It is also possible that this is a short story, not a full length book.

I haven't read it, but maybe "Rabbit Hill" by Robert Lawson. Think it's about animals in a garden.
