In the beginning I was finding it rather hard to get invested. However now that bilbo has found the ring and is figuring out what the ring can do I am really excited to see where this takes him!
I don’t really care for the author’s remarks to the reader, however knowing the hobbit is geared more towards children it makes sense.

I agree with Ally. I had trouble in the beginning, but as soon as the Gollum situation happened I was really interested. The reason it was hard was that there is so many types of folk (dwarves, elves, trolls, goblins, wizards, etc.) that it was so much new info to digest! I am a person who worries a lot, so I probably wouldn’t go on this adventure. But I wish I was the type who would lol. I don’t mind when Tolkien talks to the readers. I fine it amusing sometimes lol. I am interested to see where Gandalf and the Dwarves have gone now that Bilbo has escaped the Mountain. :)
