SOLVED. kidnapped is tortured but fights back, failed suicide attempt and eventually mentally broken. Man regrets breaking her and tries to rehabilitate her. Ends with man and heroine escaping while being shot at and housekeeper setting house on fire.

I think this was written by a female author (fairly popular). I am not sure when it was written but I think it was within the last 5 years. I read the first book but I thought it ended in a cliff hanger but I can’t really remember. I have tried searching the internet with no luck. Spoilers: The heroine is taken I believe because she saw something or knows something but she doesn’t remember or won’t tell the man who kidnapped her. He was paid to kidnap the woman by her father (I think) the father is part of a secret government or group. The man who kidnaps her is tasked with breaking her and making her a broken doll (something like that). She fights back, tries to escape, tries to kill herself (slits her wrists in bathtub???). And eventually she yells at the house keeper (another woman) for helping him. The kidnapper then tortures her by electrocution and her mind is broken. He then feels bad about doing it….not wanting her to be that way he liked it better when she fought. The house keeper is infatuated with the kidnapper and gets jealous when he rehabilitates the heroine and sets the house/mansion on fire. It ends with them trying to get away to a car while someone shoots at them. I think he is hit but I am not sure I remember exactly.
