Richard Derus (expendablemudge) I learned it in a 1970s SF novel about a dwarf who follows a time-traveling Candide named Magnus whose title has utterly escaped my memory. The author parodies "Valley Girl" speak in a near-future New York City with "Pyramid Workers" and "Dollies," lower classes to the infantile upper classes. The Cungonde figure is kidnapped by the Dwarf, leaves Magnus clues as to where she's been spirited off to in poetry. One place they visit is Tibet. There is a rescuer/godlike figure. He says, after Candide & Cunegonde-likes are reunited, that the dwarf's ending will be swift and condign.

Slidin' up on fifty years later, that is my one memorable take-away from the silly thing: the word "condign"---
