A tiny girl lives in a matchbox. The climax of the tale is a fierce battle with a bug - she saves herself by stabbing it with a straight pin. The author wrote the story to amuse his daughters. I think she also may float inside an acorn cap in a water storyline. I believe she lives on or near a windowsill. I read it in the 60s. I seen it since for several hundred dollars on out of print websites but have gone blank on the name. The author may have originally published it in magazine installments.
