I’m trying to find a fantasy (I think?) novel from around 15 years ago. What I can remember is:
There’s a young woman (virgin?) is meant to be sacrificed in a fire with a dead king/chief but her grandma sneaks her out and goes instead.

I can’t remember what happens after that, but I think it involves magic and wolves?

She’s in a castle at one point and is pregnant. Her handmaid helps her hide the pregnancy by nicking their fingertips and smearing blood on the sheets to mimic a period.

I read it with my mum when I was about 13-14 years old at my highschool library about 15 years ago, so it’s nothing recent. I never got to finish the book because I had to return it and then couldn’t remember the name.
