Chad | 1403 comments This is what comics should be, fun. Joe Quinones does a lot of heavy lifting in this book. Every time a new hero appears, he changes his art style to mimic the type of hero he is. Manga, Vertigo, Sin City, Moebius, Quinones does a phenomenal jab of mimicking different genres and artists.

I do think the creative team missed an opportunity with the book though. When this book was published in the 80's the heroes and villains were created by fans who sent in their designs, even getting a credit. I thought that was the coolest thing as a kid. With the ease of using the internet for submissions, they could have done something similar with this book.

Alex Prijn (primerius) | 4 comments I know I am in a minority going off the ratings on Goodreads, but this didn't do it for me. I get a lot of people like the whimsicalness of this comic. But for me it was just a childish, all over the place mess. The changes in the art style bugged me instead of giving a sense of nostalgia. And the heroes coming out of the heroverse were just too weird and nonsensical.

I will read volume 2 as well, because apparently I hate myself, but I can't not know how this ends.

I did like the main characters and the main art work, that's why it gets 2 stars.

Ed Erwin | 327 comments I don't like superheroes and I don't like multiverse stories. So, this had two strikes against it from the start. But, somehow, I liked it. Mainly because the various art styles kept it interesting.

My only other experience with "Dial H" was from the version China Mieville wrote. I remember nothing about it other than that I didn't like it.
