I know that no matter what reason Kane could give, Liam wasn't going to listen. Eden seemed like she could see the situation more clearly than Liam, but she still supported him. I felt like she knew it really wasn't Kane's fault, but she would never admit it.
Liam claimed that when the bonds were stolen, they became financially indebted to the Russians they were supposed to repay. Therefore, they had to take on assignments from sketchy clients to make up for the shortfall. Kane found that fishy since both Liam and Eden could have recouped that rather quickly and it’s been six years.
I truly believe there was something wrong with Liam. His obsession was irrational and he really didn’t care about anyone but himself and that treasure. He used Eden.
Now Eden is a different story. Her judgment is highly skewed and she’s been under Liam’s thumb since her parents death. I think over time, now that he’s dead and she has to think on her own, there’s a chance she can be helped. Right now, though, she’s completely messed up but does know the difference between right and wrong.

Eden let her whole life become wrapped up in Liam. It wasn't healthy. I can see clinging to him after her parents died, but doing everything he wanted, even betraying the man she loves, was really bad.
I’m on the fence about him being mentally ill. There’s a fine line between obsession and something more deeply rooted.

Thanks for the explanation. It sounds to me that Liam and Eden were already working for some sketchy people when the bonds disappeared. And, I agree that it is fishy that they couldn't recoup the money to pay off their debt in six years.
