About 10-15 years ago I found 3 books by the same author in either the juvenile or the YA section of the library. They were like a trilogy in that they were all set in the same world and about heroines with unusual powers, but they were also stand-alone volumes. The one I'm thinking of was about a girl who knew if someone was truth-telling or lying. She had an identical twin, except their mismatched eyes were reversed. I believe there was also a wandering musician/bard as one of the main characters.

Are the girls teenagers or younger children?

Was it a medieval-type fantasy world?

This makes me think of Sharon Shinn's books, The safekeeper's secret, The truth-teller's tale (with the mirror twins, Adele and Eleda), and Dream-maker's magic, all in the same world setting.
